Screen Shot 2016-03-04 at 8.19.19 PMTexas has joined New York in outlawing FanDuel, an online betting site for sports nuts. The ads used to be ubiquitous in the Empire State, but following the ruling last November, they disappeared completely overnight.

According to My San Anonio, FanDuel agreed without argument that they would leave the state of Texas. Their competitor, DraftKings, filed a motion to remain in the state.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton explained that as of May 2, FanDuel will no longer accept paid entries for cash prizes. As a result, he does not plan to sue the company for doing so in the past. Last month, he declared that the sites were “illegal gambling.”

DraftKings responded thusly:

We look forward to presenting evidence to demonstrate that Daily Fantasy Sports are skill-based games and perfectly legal under Texas law, certainly no less so than other kinds of skill-based contests. We are committed to ensuring that our fans can continue to enjoy the contests they love.
